Cosmological Axion Problem in Chaotic Inflationary Universe

چکیده
We investigate two cosmological axion problems (isocurvature fluctuations and domain-wall formation) in chaotic inflationary universe. It is believed that these problems are solved if potential for the Peccei-Quinn scalar field is very flat. However , we find that too many domain walls are produced through parametric resonance decay of the Peccei-Quinn scalar field. Only the axion model with N = 1(N : QCD anomaly factor) is consistent with observations. We also point out that the flat potential is naturally obtained in a supersymmetric extension of the Peccei-Quinn model. If Peccei-Quinn breaking scale F a is about 10 12 GeV, this model predicts anisotropies of cosmic microwave background radiation due to the axion isocurvature fluctuations which may be detectable in future observations.

Domain Wall Problem of Axion and Isocurvature Fluctuations in Chaotic Inflation Models
We study the domain wall problem of an axion in chaotic inflation models. We show that the production of domain walls does not occurs if the PecceiQuinn scalar has a flat potential and its breaking Fa is larger than ∼ 10GeV. We find that too large isocurvature fluctuations are produced for such high Fa. In order for those isocurvature fluctuations to be consistent with observations of the large...

The current cosmological constraints on a dark matter axion are reviewed. We describe the basic mechanisms by which axions are created in the early universe, both in the standard thermal scenario in which axion strings form and in inflationary models. In the thermal scenario, the dominant process for axion production is through the radiative decay of an axion string network, which implies a dar...

We review the results of a model of how nucleation of a new universe occurs, assuming a di quark identification for soliton-anti soliton constituent parts of a scalar field. Initially, we employ a false vacuum potential system; however, when cosmological expansion is dominated by the Einstein cosmological constant at the end of chaotic inflation, the initial di quark scalar field is not consist...
متن کاملOn the Origin of Dark Matter Axions
We discuss the possible sources of dark matter axions in the early universe. In the standard thermal scenario, an axion string network forms at the Peccei-Quinn phase transition T ∼ fa and then radiatively decays into a cosmological background of axions; to be the dark matter, these axions must have a mass ma ∼ 100μeV with specified large uncertainties. An inflationary phase with a reheat tempe...
